Evaluation for Information

Evaluation.

For my project "Information" I looked into all different types of information, from logos to writing to pictures to books. To gather all my information together i got a sketchbook so that i could keep all my work together and make sure it looked presentable and tidy.

For my research i began by creating a mind map so i could pick of different types of information. I then began by looking at labels, washing machine tags, logos, newspapers and many more. I used photos that i had taken myself, photos of the Internet and my own sketches and paintings of things to do with information.

As I didn't get the task till after the summer Ive had a lot to catch up on but I think I've done really well to catch it all up. Although i think my work could have been alot better if i did have had time to do it over the summer as it's had to be rushed to make sure it all got handed in on time. So I do wish that I'd got it before the summer so then it would have been better and I would have been able to get more things in the sketch book.

Through out my years of doing art and design Ive always enjoyed looking at Bansky's work and Andy Warhol. So for this task I tried to focus on Bansky as he uses alot of text on his work and it also gives out information in his pictures and drawings. I really like the way he works and the images he uses, I love looking at his work and find it really interesting.

For my repeat tracing I took images and drawings from my sketchbook, but also looked at different images/logos that I didn't use in the sketchbook what i found along the way of creating my repeat tracing. I then began by layering alot of my images on top of each other, which kinder made it harder for me. So then i had to over come this problem, and add patterns such as, dots, lines, and broken lines in too block images.

For my development after I had looked into each different type of information, I tryed and picked a certain area to focus on to make it more easier for myself and for my work. Then by concentrating on the certain area which was logos. I used tracings, drawings of my owns, and images of the Internet. I also added bus tickets and different papers to my 2 visual sheets to make them more interesting. I then began by doing my Tracing i collected all my drawings/ images together which i really liked and turn it into a big picture. I think my tracing could have been better then it turned out to be, but i think it worked better then I expected. For my samples, I did screen printing, I also did samples on the sewing machine, with different paints, and also by collageing different papers together.

Even by me doing work on the sewing machines all through out school, when it got to doing my first day on the sewing machines in textiles, I found the day really stressful as it was new experience and i had to learn different things, and how to create different pieces of work. Once I got going I got into it and enjoy it.

I did alot of experiments from using different paints I haven't used before, to doing different patterns on the sewing machines, i also did puff binder once i had created my tracing. I tie dyed different kinds of fabric before printing on them as well to test out new ways of creating backgrounds for my image to be printed on. When printing I went from just using one colour to print with to using 3/4 at a time once I got into the hang of things.

The textile processes that i did enjoy are Printing, i found this enjoyable because it was something different and i thought it was a easy process to do once i got the hang of things. I also liked the way my print came through at the end and the effects different paint/ puff binder created on my fabric. One thing I didn't enjoy much was on the sewing machines i found that creating a pattern on Layer and Burn was harder then what i thought it would be. I did enjoy tye dyeing and then doing puff binder onto the fabric I found this worked really well and was interesting to do!

I think that my sketch book didn't go as well as i would have wanted it to go as I didn't have all the summer to do it, i would have liked more time on this so i could have collected more research and filled my sketchbook up with more information and pictures. I think that my repeat tracing and my screen printing went really well and worked good! I also found this interesting.

Because I didn't get the project till after the summer, I think Ive worked well in the time period that Ive been given to get my work done and make sure its all finish in time for the deadline date. However if I had more time then i could have made my sketchbook more informative, and I could have filled it alot more then what it is now.

I am pleased with my progress so far and think my work is going really well and i am excited to see my finished product.
